Emergency Shelter

The Clinton County Homeless Shelter can provide emergency shelter for up to 38 men, women and children each night. We maintain four different properties: Women and Children’s Shelter, AKA Matrka Family House; Men’s Shelter, (the Annex); The Darleen Myers House (the office) and our Donation Center.

The Matrka Family House is located at 36 Gallup Street in Wilmington. This property is our flagship location and first opened in 1988. It houses women, children and has two family rooms with the ability to house two-parent families with children.

The Men’s Shelter (Annex) is located at 30 Gallup Street in Wilmington which is next door to our Women’s and Children’s Shelter. It opened in 2008.

The Darleen Myers House opened in 2012 and is located at 390 West Main Street in Wilmington. This location houses our administrative office and is staffed Monday through Friday from 7:00am until 3:00pm.

The Donation Center opened in 2016 and is located at 382 West Main Street, immediately adjacent to the Darleen Myers House and is a home for our food pantry and donations of clothing, household items, baby items, furniture and other necessities. These donations are shared with residents leaving the shelter and those in our community in need of assistance.

Hours and location of operation to receive donations and distribute donations to those in need are as follows:

  • Darleen Myers House - Monday through Friday between 7am and 3pm
  • Matrka Family House - Office is opened when the Darleen Myers House is closed. Opened for residents 24 hours each day.
